Main House and Cottage, both built in the 1800’s

COMMENTARY FROM OUR WONDERFUL B&B GUESTS:

“Romantic!” “Serene,” “Immaculate,” “Gorgeous pool!” “Great location!” “The grounds and view are beautiful!” “Wonderful hospitality!”

COTTAGE: Beautiful one-room 1810 Cottage attached to historic Main House but totally private, with quality linens on the Queen bed, private porch, cozy fireplace and fresh flowers.   Pretty private bath featuring a antique claw-foot tub with hand-held shower attachment, spa bath products, toiletries. Hall contains mini-fridge loaded with fresh fruit, cereal, milk, yogurt and a Keurig coffee maker with tea and coffee. Freshly baked goods are replenished daily and home-made bed-time treats magically appear each evening.

All guests receive a welcome plate containing assorted cheeses and crackers or pita chips and hummus, if preferred, as well as a bottle of wine or craft beers or sodas for non-drinkers.

BLUE ROOM IN MAIN HOUSE: Quiet and serene second-floor room with a private bath down the hall.  Decorative fireplace and pretty views to the South.  Guests enjoy their welcome plate and breakfast in the sunny kitchen downstairs.  Since the hosts live in the Main House, some hours restrictions apply.

PROPERTY: Located on 22 gorgeous acres with bridges over Burchs Creek, walking paths with scattered benches, and a hidden creekside picnic area.

POOL: The sparkling swimming pool overlooks the creek and fields, and there are bocce, croquet and badminton sets for your enjoyment.

FIRE PIT: We also have a fabulous cauldron we use as a fire pit, weather and wind permitting.

LOCATION: We are an honest 25 minutes from downtown Charlottesville, with its charming boutiques, Mr. Jefferson’s University and a wide variety of restaurants ranging from farm-to-table trendy to elegant to just plain fun.

We are just 12 minutes from Crozet, which boasts a groceries, a pharmacy, and a gourmet take-out store for picnic items as well as a surprising variety of locally owned restaurants and cafes.

VINEYARDS:  We have vineyards! Sunnybank is literally in the heart of the Western Monticello Wine Trail and we are thisclose to King Family and Pippin Hill and very short (and spectacular) drives to Stinson and Pollack Vineyards, among many others.   Starr Hill and Pro Re Nata BREWERIES are located in Crozet, and award-winning Devil’s Backbone is within a half-hour drive.

ACTIVITIES:

Enjoy hiking the nearby Blue Ridge trails, biking, swimming,  exploring Charlottesville and UVA, historic Monticello, Ash Lawn Highland and Montpelier.  Rainy day? Go antiquing–dozens of shops, from shabby chic to fabulously fabulous in the area.

Play bocce, croquet, badminton, or just climb into our shady hammock, open a book and relax!

This area is very popular with local bike clubs, and easy dirt road bike trails pass right in front of the property.

“Simply Serene! “Reviewed July 2, 2015 for a stay in June 2015

My husband and I just returned from the Cottage at Sunny bank. We were there to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. No words can describe this place … it is simply serene!!!!!!!

The cottage exudes total peace and relaxation. While reading outside you can hear the babbling of the stream. There is no t.v. to distract you.

The cottage is immaculate. The in-ground pool is wonderful. The views/grounds are beautiful!

Anne, the owner, will make your visit perfect in all aspects! Every detail of our stay was carefully considered.
